- Understand the definition and basic properties of polynomials (degree, coefficients).
- Perform algebraic division of polynomials and understand the relationship between dividend, divisor, quotient, and remainder.
- Apply the Remainder Theorem to find remainders upon division by a linear factor.
- Apply the Factor Theorem to identify linear factors of polynomials and to aid in factorisation.
- Factorise polynomials, including quadratics and simple higher-degree polynomials.
- Understand and use the relationship between the roots of a polynomial equation and its coefficients (Vieta’s formulas).
- Determine the number of real roots of polynomial equations, using algebraic and graphical methods.
