  • Work confidently with Cartesian coordinates in all four quadrants.
  • Calculate the distance between two points and find the midpoint of a line segment.
  • Understand, derive, and use different forms of the equation of a straight line
  • Determine gradients of lines, and use conditions for parallel and perpendicular lines.
  • Find the equation of a circle given its centre and radius, or from its general form by completing the square.
  • Solve problems involving the intersection of lines and circles, and find equations of tangents to circles.
  • Apply geometric properties of circles (e.g., tangent-radius perpendicularity, properties of chords) in a coordinate context.
  • Use basic vector operations (addition, subtraction, scalar multiplication) to solve simple geometric problems.
